Core formulas
The formulas to keep straight
Etsy payment processing fee = processing percentage x gross order amount + fixed feeGross order amount for processing = sale amount including shipping and tax where applicableUS Etsy Payments processing = 3% x total sale amount + $0.25Currency conversion fee = 2.5% when listing currency differs from payment account currencyTotal standard Etsy fees = listing fee + transaction fee + payment processing feeWhat are Etsy payment processing fees?
Etsy payment processing fees are the fees Etsy charges to process a buyer's payment through Etsy Payments. The rate depends on the location of the seller's bank account, and Etsy says the fee is assessed on the gross order amount, including shipping and tax where applicable.
This is not the same as Etsy's 6.5% transaction fee. A US seller usually pays both the 6.5% transaction fee and the 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee on a standard Etsy Payments order.
This guide checked Etsy's Payments Policy on July 3, 2026. Etsy lists that policy as last updated February 12, 2026.

What is the Etsy payment processing fee in each country?
The table below lists Etsy Payments processing fees by bank-account location as shown in Etsy's Payments Policy on July 3, 2026. Use the rate for the seller's bank account, not the buyer's country.
Some countries also have deposit fees for deposits below certain thresholds. Those deposit fees are separate from payment processing and can make the bank deposit smaller.
If the listing currency differs from the payment account currency, Etsy lists an additional 2.5% currency conversion fee.

Payment processing examples
Each row uses 100 units of the seller's payment account currency unless noted.
| Seller bank-account location | Order amount | Processing formula | Processing fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | $100 | 3% + $0.25 | $3.25 |
| United Kingdom | £100 | 4% + £0.20 | £4.20 |
| France | €100 | 4% + €0.30 | €4.30 |
| Canada domestic or US order | C$100 | 3% + C$0.25 | C$3.25 |
| Australia domestic order | A$100 | 3% + A$0.25 | A$3.25 |
| India | ₹1,000 | 5% + ₹25 | ₹75 |
Is payment processing separate from the Etsy transaction fee?
Yes. Etsy payment processing is separate from the 6.5% transaction fee. A standard US Etsy sale usually has a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee, and a 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee.
For a $100 US sale, the transaction fee is $6.50 and the processing fee is $3.25. Together with the $0.20 listing fee, standard Etsy fees are $9.95 before seller costs.
If a seller changes the payment processing input but leaves the transaction fee at 6.5%, the calculator can model different countries more accurately.
- Transaction fee: Etsy marketplace fee.
- Payment processing fee: payment handling fee.
- Listing fee: fixed listing or renewal charge.
- Offsite Ads: attributed advertising fee.
When does Etsy charge a 2.5% currency conversion fee?
Etsy lists a 2.5% currency conversion fee when a seller lists and sells an item in a currency different from the seller's payment account currency. This fee is separate from payment processing.
The simplest way to avoid this fee is to list in the same currency as the payment account when that makes sense for the shop. If conversion helps buyer trust or local pricing, price the 2.5% into the product.
A currency mismatch can matter more than sellers expect because it stacks on top of listing, transaction, and processing fees.
Currency conversion fee examples
Examples use Etsy's listed 2.5% currency conversion fee.
| Converted sale amount | Currency conversion fee | Pricing note |
|---|---|---|
| $25 | $0.63 | Small but visible on low-priced items |
| $100 | $2.50 | Treat as another percentage fee |
| $250 | $6.25 | Can erase discount margin |
| $500 | $12.50 | Needs a clear pricing reason |
Decision table
Etsy payment processing decision table
Use this before changing calculator inputs for a non-US seller.
| Situation | What it means | Best move |
|---|---|---|
| Seller bank account is in the US | Use 3% + $0.25 | Keep FeeProofed default processing inputs |
| Seller bank account is in the UK | Use 4% + £0.20 | Change both percentage and fixed fee |
| Seller bank account is in the EU | Many countries use 4% + €0.30 | Check the exact country row |
| Seller bank account is in Canada | Domestic and US orders differ from international orders | Choose the right Canada row |
| Seller has deposit fees | Small deposits can cost extra | Use a less frequent deposit schedule when useful |
| Listing currency differs from payout currency | 2.5% conversion fee can apply | Price conversion into the listing |
Worked examples
Examples you can compare against your own numbers
Example 1: US seller, $100 order
Calculator inputs: itemPrice=100, shippingCharged=0, processingFee=3, processingFixed=0.25.
| Order amount | $100.00 | No shipping charged |
|---|---|---|
| Processing percentage | $3.00 | $100 x 3% |
| Fixed processing fee | $0.25 | US fixed fee |
| Payment processing fee | $3.25 | Separate from transaction fee |
Takeaway: US processing is lower than many non-US rates, so non-US sellers should not use US defaults.
Open the US processing exampleExample 2: UK seller, £100 order
Calculator inputs: itemPrice=100, shippingCharged=0, processingFee=4, processingFixed=0.20. The calculator labels currency as USD, but the rate logic is the same.
| Order amount | £100.00 | No shipping charged |
|---|---|---|
| Processing percentage | £4.00 | £100 x 4% |
| Fixed processing fee | £0.20 | UK fixed fee |
| Payment processing fee | £4.20 | Separate from 6.5% transaction fee |
Takeaway: A UK seller should change the payment processing inputs before trusting a US-default Etsy calculator.
Example 3: India seller, ₹1,000 order
Calculator inputs: itemPrice=1000, shippingCharged=0, processingFee=5, processingFixed=25.
| Order amount | ₹1,000 | No shipping charged |
|---|---|---|
| Processing percentage | ₹50 | ₹1,000 x 5% |
| Fixed processing fee | ₹25 | India fixed fee |
| Payment processing fee | ₹75 | 7.5% of this example order |
Takeaway: Fixed processing fees can be painful on low-priced products, especially when the fixed amount is large relative to the item price.
